Kickdown – Automatic downshift requests

What kickdown deactivation changes, how automatic downshift requests work and what the option does not imply.

Function, changes and requirements

What does the system do?

A strong acceleration request can cause an automatic gearbox to select a lower gear. The ECUs coordinate torque and shifting according to the driving mode.

What does the option mean?

The option concerns the supported kickdown intervention. It does not automatically block every downshift or raise the torque limit.

What do we check on your vehicle?

We identify the powertrain and assess D, S and manual-mode behaviour where fitted, including protective shifts and safe engine speeds. The exact control unit, software version, fitted hardware and intended use determine the scope. A configurator entry does not replace this assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Does every vehicle support this function?

No. We check the vehicle, control unit and software against the actual supported function. Include existing faults and modifications. Transmission functions also require the exact gearbox version.

Does selecting an option approve its use?

No. Changes to emissions, noise or protection functions can affect legal use and operating safety. This page promises no road approval; diagnosis and a permissible repair are considered first.

Does this option suit your project?

Tell us the vehicle, engine, gearbox, modifications and your goal. We clarify the precise scope before preparing an offer.
